Dans le cadre de Swedish design moves Paris et le projet HEM X 6, SEPTEMBRE est un des designers invité pour réhabiliter la résidence d’artiste de L’Institut suédois dans leur hôtel particulier bâti en 1572.
Avec le projet Une chambre à soi, en référence au titre de l’essai de Virginia Woolf le projet rend hommage aux femmes créatrices dans l’histoire, oubliées ou inconnues – à celles auxquelles il manquait souvent du temps et un lieu à soi pour accomplir leur travail. Septembre s’est inspirée de la vie de Greta Knutson (1899-1983), poétesse et peintre moderniste qui a utilisé sa fortune familiale pour faire bâtir une maison pour elle et son mari Tristan Tzara, écrivain et fondateur du mouvement Dada. Dessinée par Adolf Loos et construite en 1926, cette maison est connue sous le nom de La maison de Tristan Tzara. Comme le bâtiment n’incluait pas d’espace de travail adéquat pour Greta Knutson, elle fit construire un petit atelier sur sa terrasse. Ce studio fait en collaboration avec Dux, fait écho à ce « lieu à soi » que l’artiste s’est fait installer.
Part of Swedish design moves Paris and the project HEM X 6, SEPTEMBRE was invited as one of 6 Swedish designers to renovate the artist residence of the Swedish Institute’s in their beautiful Hôtel particulier from 1572.
In reference to Virginia Woolf ’s essay A Room of One’s Own, the project in collaboration with Dux pays homage to the women creators in history: those forgotten and those never known, those who lacked time and a space of their own to produce their work. Septembre took inspiration from the life of Greta Knutson (1899- 1983), a poet and modernist painter who used her family fortune to build a house for herself and her husband Tristan Tzara, writer and founder of the Dada movement. Drawn by Adolf Loos and built in 1926, the house is known in architecture history as Tristan Tzara’s house. As the building didn’t include work spaces fit for Greta Knutson’s work, she ordered a small workshop to be built on the
terrace. This studio echoes the “space of one’s own” that the artist had made for her.
